Digital ID

The principle of Digital ID must be limited to the person being who they say they are.

If my date of birth is connected to my Digital ID to distinguish me from someone of the same name, (not that such a distinction can be assured), then using this for any other purpose should be illegal.

If for example I want to access the information about my pension then providing my ID show I am entitled to see this would be acceptable. Using my ID to determine if I were entitled to a pension would not.

Similarly, using my Digital ID to determine compliance with the Online Safety Act would be a misuse of my information as it was not provided on this basis.

Gender, (or sex), is often collected usually to allow addressing correspondence as Mr, Mrs, Miss etc.. If I were asked to provide a Digital ID to access a Public Toilet this would be a use of information for which I did not provide it.

The government is already saying that a Digital ID would be used to determine a Right to Work, which is already a use beyond identifying that I am who I say I am.

The information about my birth, my citizenship and any change of name is recorded elsewhere. I would accept use of a Digital ID to retrieve this information with my permission as one of numerous other means, not as a method to bypass such need.

For Digital ID to be accepted it must be of the most limited, and legally enforced way possible.
